What I need to know as parent

I couldn’t say that it is a violent book even when death occurs in almost every chapter. Although suspense, misery, and pain seep much of the story, younger readers will realized that at the end evil can not achieve something but would make the principal characters (all the good ones) physically powerful and emotionally resilient especially Ron Weasley. Fighting an uncontaminated evil involves adversity, sacrifice, and bereavement that would make the story more truthful.

My son is only six years old when he started reading the first and second series of the Harry Potter Books. He became a booklover even more and continues to be a Potterfan because he is determined to finish the book from story one to seven. In his Potter-appetite, it feels good to finally complete the Harry Potter books collection.

The author is admirable mostly for her merciless dedication to create one of the great fantasy epics of all time. She just brought back children's books into the mainstream of popular media and culture.

Very Magical, isn’t it?

Harry Potter is successful because of a splendid story JK Rowling has in it.
Book seven is all about friendship, love, loyalty, family, and self-discovery.

On self-discovery

Ron Weasley's improved character is promising. He became more serious and dedicated. And to the most, he learns how to be confident and witty. He never ends up as a second best here. In fact I could say that he is a hero together with Hermione and the rest of Dumbledore's army.

It is all about loving and sacrificing. Sometimes we need to sacrifice even the most important thing to us in order to save the one we truly love and adore. Or sometimes we are doing it for the greater good even if it means ending our own life. (Writing this help me remember how
the elf died in saving Harry and his company in a sure-death scene when Bellatrix is about to kill them. It is also painful for me to retain in my memory how Harry Potter beg Dobby not to die but then, Dobby has to go.)

I honestly cried when Harry is digging Dobby’s grave alone. Imagine having done it with spade and without magic? For Harry, every drop of his sweat and every blister felt like a gift to the elf who saved their lives.
I don’t wanna think that this story is only a hype. I love this so much because this made my son appreciate reading even more.

From The Book

“So the boy……the boy must die?" Asked Snape quite calmly.

“And Voldemort himself must do it, Severus.” "That is essential.”

Another long silence. Then Snape said “ I thought … all these years… that we were protecting him for her. For Lily."

“We have protected him because it has been essential to teach him, to raise him, to let him try his strength,” said Dumbledore, his eyes still tight shut. “Meanwhile, the connection between them grows even stronger, a parasitic growth: Sometimes I have thought he suspect it himself. If I know him, he will have arranged matters so that when he does set out to meet his death , it will truly mean the end of Voldemort.” Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified.

“You have kept him alive so that he can die at the right moment?”

“Don’t be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?”
“Lately only those whom I can not save,” Said Snape. He stood up. “You have used me.”

“Meaning?”

“I have spied for you and lied for you. Put my self in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Liliy Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter-“

“But this is touching Severus. Said Dumbledore seriously. “ Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?”

“For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!”

From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

“After all this time?”

“Always,” said Snape

Snape is a wonderful person. I realized that in this book. I even admired the way he had loved Lily. He is pure! His heart is sooo clean!
He made sure that Lily's death will not be in vain. Though he played cruel to Harry, his amazing participation in protecting the son of the woman he loved is a victory, until at the end of his breath Voldemort believed that his loyalty is only for him.

I would like to thank Midas for inspiring me to do this.

i purposely skipped reading this post because i haven't yet read the last book series of Harry Potter. i just don't want to spoil the excitement, the curiosity and the fun that i know i will be having when i have the money to buy this book...but i guess, i lost the battle against my urge of reading this post. frankly, i got teary-eyed. i wanted to shed happy tears for ron, guilty and full of shame tears for severus (coz i judged him unfairly) and sad tears for dobby and one of the weasly twins. Harry Potter series really amazes me for the fact that it was so powerful to move and affect me every time. for me, that's so magical. i hate to say goodbye to every character of the series but i guess, one way or another, i have to. i love harry potter and i love jk rowling. in a way, they became a part of me.

*sigh* after reading this, i really wanted to lament....thanks loves. this is such a great post.
